via

This has been recorded in various literary sources as well. The oldest one was in Priestley’s Grammar in 1154 A.D. Using the term “boy” as a descriptive term for a male child has been done for centuries. The exact etymology of the word is unclear, but it is believed to have descended from the Anglo-Saxon word boia, meaning “servant” or “farmworker.” So being a boy, actually means you were born to be a slave and slog for the rest of your lives.
